BOMU elections postponed

In an interview, former BOMU secretary general , Winfred Rasina,  said the elections, which were scheduled for last week Thursday, were deferred to give former members of the two consecutive executive committees time to amend the organisation's constitution.
He said that the issue was raised at the Thursday meet where it was felt that the constitution had some loopholes, which were open to manipulation.

Amendments have to be made to avoid a repeat of the current situation where a group of members went to the Registrar of Companies and complained that proper procedures were not followed when the outgoing committee led by Nkgopolang Tlhomelang was chosen.

Former BOMU president,  Phempherethe Bafana Pheto, concurred, saying the constitution should be amended to avoid a situation whereby unscrupulous people use it to serve their selfish ends.

But traditional musician, Mmusi Dikgole, popularly known as 'Topito', said that he saw no pressing reason to defer the elections.

He sees the deferment as a ploy by power-mongers and some former executive members to come back into office, thus depriving other members a chance to lead.
