Folk wedding dcor of true African elegance

The enterprising woman, who hails from Mahalapye, has landed her life long dream and is living and loving it.

Moalosi of Kissysizuki Gardens said when she started her business last year, she knew that the market was saturated, but decided to give it a go anyway.   Moalosi said as she prefers to be called, said in her view the market was longing for something different, classic yet allowing them to go beyond the norm.

“I have witnessed that weddings these days in our country are all uniform.  When a woman is all smiles, with bling on her finger saying the man has finally proposed, we all know what is next.  It means in a few months’ time a big white tent, decorated as per her theme colour will be pitched up somewhere either at her mother’s place or elsewhere.  Décor remains needed all the same,” she said. Therefore, Moalosi states that for a change she resorted to Folk outdoor wedding decorations, to replace the dominant tent weddings.

“Outdoor weddings are very exclusive, usually they are held in gardens among the white generation, but bringing it home to Botswana taking my base, which is Mahalapye for instance, it is very rare to find homes with beautiful flower gardens let alone a lawn as they normally call it,” she said. She continued by saying the fact that people nowadays prefer to pave their yards, which she said has forced to get artificial lawn.

She added that they create that appealing environment for their clients so that they feel like they are in some place far away yet they are right in their own homes.

Moalosi is deaf, but is an amazing businesswoman who gives her all for its success.

“Folk weddings are not only traditional and stylish.  They allow couples to have a memorable wedding, which saves them from the aftermath of expensive wedding tents enjoying a unique style,” Moalosi said.

When quizzed about her love for flowers and gardening she said: “I grew up in a family where flowers were greatly cherished.  My mother had a very big flower garden in her home.  I always worked in the garden with my mother and I developed a deeper love for flowers plus my mother has green fingers and I inherited that”.

Her unique approach served her right, because in no time her business gained popularity and is now receiving clients across the country.

She said she learnt that people still have a special attachment to traditional wedding setups.  They still regard them to have the vibe.

She mentioned a wedding she recently planned where the bride and groom opted to take a donkey cart ride around the village.

“My customers’ happiness satisfies me, their compliments and appreciation thereafter strengthens me and pushes me to deliver to my level best,” she said.

As a wedding shopper, Moalosi said she consults with her clients from the moment they start planning their wedding to know their budget so she can come up with a suitable package for them.

Apart from planning weddings she said she also decorates offices, does gardening for hotels, offices and individuals. She also plans parties and special events.
