Nato to return to Atltico de Kolkata

Gaborone United secretary general, Herbert Letsebe confirmed their contract with Nato ends this month.

“He will rejoin his Indian club as agreed because he was only here for six months,” he said.

Letsebe said they could not renew the contract even if they wanted to because Nato is still a Kolkata player.

The Indian Super League resumes in October, so Nato joined GU for the second time to remain active until then.

In his six months spell with GU, ‘Size 10’ helped the Gaborone giants win the Mascom Top 8 cup  and a fifth place finish in the league.

For his amazing performance both at Kolkata and GU, the 25-year old midfielder won the chairman’s award at the 35th annual BNSC awards in May.

He will rejoin the same club where he made history last season. He was part of Atlético de Kolkata team that won the inaugural edition of the Indian Super League (ISL).

The talented midfielder’s return to the newly formed Indian league clears out speculation that GU could make a move to keep Nato beyond the loan spell.

It is four months between now and October, therefore Nato was expected to extend the deal for three months leading up to the resumption of the ISL.

Last Friday, the club announced on their website that they had decided to retain their previous line-up of foreign players for the forthcoming season. Nato has been retained alongside Spaniard defender Jose Miguel Gonzalez Rey, better known as “Josemi” to help win the second edition.  Nato and Josemi will still be under the tutelage of head coach, Antonio Lopez Habas.

Nato joined Atletico Madrid last year on a two-year agreement with Bidvest Wits. The Spanish club then transferred him to Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Premier League from October to December.

The initial arrangement was that Nato was supposed to return to Madrid from India but due to processing of work permits in Spain, which takes between three and six months, he had to wait before re-joining his club.

The ISL recently released the fixtures for the 2015 season and “Size 10” will get his first kick in the second edition of ISL when Atlético de Kolkata travel to Chennai, Tamil Nadu to face Marco Materazzi’s Chennaiyin FC in October.
