The last time Gunners played at the university stadium, they humiliated TASC 6-0 about three weeks ago. The problem with Gunners is that they tend to disappoint when least expected. After the high-scoring win over TASC, Mapantsula faltered 2-1 to Uniao Flamengo Santos at the National Stadium on April 18. Gunners' tactician Daniel 'Chicco' Nare is under pressure to save the club from relegation as other bottom clubs pick up points. 'These are difficult times for us and our plan is to pick points against Comets. All I want my players to understand is that this is a dangerous game for us because Comets have nothing to lose,' said Nare.
He told his players that they want to remain in the Premier League, they have to show character in the remaining games. 'We have everything in place at Gunners but the main problem has been converting the chances we create. But I have confidence in my players. They can remain in the Premier League,' he said. Nare's frustrations are understandable as his charges wasted good chances against Santos with Othusitse 'Sphetho' Mahube and Nkosinathi Khumalo being the main culprits. He is happy that he has a full squad for tonight's game.
Once again, Tiroyamodimo 'TRX' Mohambi will lead the onslaught against the dodgy Comets' defence. He is expected to be partnered by Khumalo as Gunners go for maximum points. At the back, Mapantsula must guard against conceding stupid goals which have cost them valuable points. Goalkeeper Paradzayi Mandivenga has been suspect and tends to let easy goals. This is proved by the 31 goals the club has conceded so far this season. Mapantsula are lying 15th in the log with 27 points from 24 games. A win will boost their confidence ahead of the game against ECCO City Greens in Gaborone on Saturday.
In Comets, Gunners face unpredictable opponents who are capable of a shock win. Comets are on their way to the dusty grounds of the First Division South and have nothing to lose tonight. Recently the Jwaneng side frustrated Notwane and Police XI and goalkeeper Ntungamile Tshoganetso remain the key player. He has been pulling great saves which at times kept the score-line respectable. The likes of Keolebale Tselaesele, Godfrey Makgarapa and Lelo Mbao are capable of shocking Gunners. Kick-off is 7.30pm.
