Botswana actor goes back to Generations

 

Lerato Motshwarakgole became a household name in Botswana when she starred in the popular South African soapie, Generations towards the end of last year.Although she only made a short appearance in the SABC 1 soapie, she impressed viewers and producers.  Motshwarakgole will be back to the screens at the end of this month to continue with her role as Zimbini in the soapie. This time she will be there for about three months.The Johannesburg-based actress revealed that she is happy to be back on Generations.  She said that during her first stint, she underestimated the support that she would get from Batswana.  She was overwhelmed but grateful for the response from Batswana.

Despite appearing onscreen in South Africa, Motshwarakgole expressed her wish and desire to come back home. 'I too want to come back home and enjoy working on developing my talent in my own country,' she said.The actress wishes to see the arts industry in Botswana grow.She said that with the removal of SABC channels from the free-to-air bouquet, Batswana should exploit the opportunity to fill the gap.She said Batswana filmmakers have the advantage of supplying content to Botswana Television (Btv) with local content as Batswana are looking forward to this.  She wishes to come back home because this is where her heart is.

Motshwarakgole has done some international work.  She stars in the French movie Flight Of The Storks that was released early this year.She starred in the Hollywood thriller as, Veronica, a Congolese woman. Some parts of the film were shot in South Africa.Although Batswana have not seen the movie yet, Motshwarakgole hopes that this will change soon.She said that she is currently doing some theatre work because that is where her passion lies.Motshwarakgole is a graduate of University of Cape Town (UCT) with an honors degree in Theatre and Performance.Some of her accomplishments include Yvonne Banning and Kana awards in theatre, which she regards highly.She has appeared in television commercials and features in Silent Witness, Stokvel and Mzansi Love: Kasi Style.
