The United States-based star won 11-9, 11-4, 11-2 over his third seed opponent.The world number 14 was representing the country of his birth for the first time as a senior.'It's an honour to win a medal for Botswana. It was only later I realised how significant it was being the first time Botswana has won a gold in a continental championship for squash. I hope in the coming years there will be plenty more from our juniors and we continue to compete for medals in the senior categories,' Walker told Mmegi Sport from his New York base yesterday.

He said the upcoming World Championships in France present the next opportunity for Botswana. 'I know Lekgotla Mosope and I will be training hard. We intend to get together and prepare back in the US. We would love to finish in a strong position there. A lot depends on the group we end up in as to where we can finish but no matter what we shall put everything into every match,' he said.Botswana came fourth in the team event.
