I'm a new creature and a better person now - Vusi

Speaking to Showbiz in an exclusive interview, the youthful Vusi, who was once a darling of many in the gospel industry, said that he has learnt his lessons after the unfortunate death of his girlfriend and that he is determined now to live a totally different life.

'It was a traumatic event for me and I was demonised by many but to me this was a turning point in my life.  I have re-discovered myself as a person and now I am closer to my God than before,' says the artist who was implicated in the murder.

Vusi admitted that before the murder case, he lived loosely although he was a gospel singer and he only got a wake-up call when the young woman died. He points out that as a young person, he did not have the wisdom to decide which was good and as a result, he found himself running with the wrong crowds resulting in him doing things contrary to his Christian faith.

The artist says that many of his so-called friends did not stick around with him when the going got tough.'I was at a point where many rejected me and started calling me names.  This was an eye-opener for me because I got to know who my real friends were and who were not. Most importantly, during those hard times, I sought refuge in God and he took me in and totally changed my life,' he says.

The artist further says that he believes that he lived dangerously when he was younger because he was running away from God's call and that it took a tragedy for him to realise that he had not been obeying God's commandments. He says now he can freely declare that he is living a life with a purpose, which was not the case before his full conversion.

Vusi further revealed that he is now a trainee pastor with Cloud and Fire Ministries and is under the mentorship of Apostle Israel Pinto, who has greatly helped rehabilitate him. The artist is now in charge of the Pitsane branch of the same ministry.

Vusi says that as a way of thanking God for saving his soul, he has released a new album.

'The good thing about this new album is that I have released it as a new and mature person. Although my voice has broken, I am now a better singer and my fans are going to greatly appreciate my new works,' he asserts adding that he has not only matured as a person but also musically.

Vusi is currently touring the country to promote his 10-track album, Ngcwele.  The album contains gospel tunes Praise the Lord (intro), Ngcwele, Wahla Tjwa, A Na Pelo Yaaka, Boha Seema, Ke Thabile, Sediba Sa Madi, You are glorious (worship medley) and Makomberero.
