Last gasp goal saves Buffaloes

Mochudi Buffaloes needed a last gasp goal to snatch one point in a 1-1 draw with Masitaoka in an exciting First Division South League match on Saturday afternoon in Gaborone. Buffaloes fell behind in the 69th minute and appeared destined to lose until Emmanuel Moroke's header at the stroke of fulltime gave them the equaliser.

The two teams were meeting for the third time in the same fixture. The first encounter was abandoned because of rain with the score at 0-0. The replay was stopped after 45 minutes at Molepolole Sports Complex to make way for Premier League clubs on December 15. Before the stoppage Masitaoka led 1-0. They appeared headed for victory on Saturday but Moroke connected a beautiful cross from the right to give the mid-table Buffaloes a much-needed point.

Masitaoka took the lead through a brilliant goal from Tshosa Onthatile. The player powered a left foot drive to the far corner of the net after a superb ball control. Other than the two goals, the two teams struggled to play their normal game in the early stages of the match with Masitaoka packing the midfield. Buffaloes' first effort at goal came in the 15th minute through an ambitious header by captain, Kavezedi Kavezedi from outside the box.

Thereafter the game became a scrappy affair. Buffaloes came close to scoring again in the 41st minute, but Pati Kgosimore missed the target with only the goalkeeper to beat. The second half was no different as the two teams continued fluffing scoring chances. Buffaloes' attacker Patrick Kedisang had his shot parried away for a corner in the 60th minute. Buffaloes' captain, Kavezedi, hailed his teammates for fighting back and earning a point when all seemed lost. 'It was quite a tough game, if we can push I am sure we will achieve a lot in the league,' he said. Masitaoka coach, Kabo Donald Bolokwe admitted his charges could not click in the first half.
