BOMAID launches cellphone service

A year later Botswana Medical Aid Society was registered under the societies' Act, as a non-profit making organisation. The society is now affectionately known as BOMaid.
By its origin, BOMAID is a member-owned fund, hence all funds generated from subscriptions are for the sole purpose of helping members defray medical costs. Any profits made are re-invested to sustain the fund in the long term.

CELLaid
In the advent of fast-growing technological development, and as part of continuing efforts to deliver on its mission, it was only fitting that BOMAID, as a dynamic organisation, explores the various opportunities presented by technology to further its objectives.

Arising from this, BOMaid has introduced a new and vibrant cell phone service tailored to improve service delivery to its members. This service requires all members to have their cell phone numbers on their BOMAID records in order to receive regular updates from BOMAID.

This service is ready and members can send an sms to our system to check whether their membership is active or not. In order to pave way for the full roll out of all the services, which require your cell phones, a promotion has been launched in the media where members are encouraged to send an sms and win prizes. It is during that process that their cell phone numbers will be captured and updated onto their records. The promotion runs from the 15th August 2007 to 31st October 2007.

Once the service rolls out, members will enjoy regular updates through their mobile phones for the following services:

MEMBERS BENEFIT PAYMENT ALERT

Members will receive SMS notification soon after their claims are paid

MEMBER BENEFITS EXCEEDED ALERT

Members will be notified whenever any benefit category in their account has been exceeded

MEMBERS SUBSCRIPTION ALERT 

Members will be notified if they fall in areas

MEMBER TERMINATION ALERT

Whenever a member is terminated, either on their request or as a BOMaid initiative. An SMS notice will be sent out to them.

SERVICE PROVIDER LOCATION ENQUIRY

Members will have access to interrogate the system to get service provider contact details

SERVICE PROVIDER PAYMENT ALERT

Members will be notified when a service provider has been paid directly on their behalf.

CELLaid SMS - Promotion
In order to encourage BOMaid members to register to the CELLaid service, BOMaid has introduced a competition in partnership with Sony Ericsson and Sony.  To register and be part of the competition, BOMaid members simply have to sms the keyword CELLaid followed by a space then membership number to the code 14266. For example: 'CELLaid 12345 - 00'. For network other than Mascom, members can SMS the information above to 71597024. SMS are charged at standard rates. Members are asked to only use their personal numbers as these numbers will be recorded permanently on the BOMAID system as a data collection exercise for future use .The competition will run up to the 31st October 2007, when the winners will be announced.
