Titled Lobatse International Beef Festival ,the beef affair started early morning and continued through the day to an evening program full of music and entertainment.
For a new event, the festival managed to rope in people of different age groups from old people to youngsters possibly because of Batswana's love for meat. However despite the name, the Beef Festival seemed to be have limited kilograms of beef. Like the name states, the expectation was to find lots and lots of beef available for people to devour on until they could not feast anymore.
However upon entering the park, those who had come for the festival were given small portions of marinated meat to braai. This attracted mixed emotions from people as some felt cheated and expressed that they were looking forward to getting more meat to braai than the portions were given.
At some point while waiting to get the braai, some people expressed out loud that they could have not come all the way from Francistown just to be given a small portion of meat to braii. On the other hand some opinions expressed seemed to be content and satisfied with the portions of meat given to be braiied.
Despite the mixed views, as the day went by the only thing that could be seen in the atmosphere were chains of smoke from various braai stands where people were braiing the meat that was being prepared to be feasted upon. The event was also graced by families and kids were catered for as there were jumping castles while the adults were enjoying the environment on their camping chairs. Later in the evening the festival was jazzed up with performances by Kearoma Rantao and Nnunu Ramogotsi among others.
