The two could emulate another export, Joel Mogorosi who won silverware in his first season at the South African league. Mogorosi lifted the MTN Top 8 title with Celtic early this season. He did not only provide assists, but scored crucial goals when they dumped the likes of Orlando Pirates in the process.
Now Ngele and Dambe, who joined Stars at the beginning of the season, have a chance to win their first league medal. The former Township Rollers' duo saw their side reduce the gap between them and log leaders, Kaizer Chiefs to just three points. Both sides have two matches in hand.
Dambe, who had been sitting on the bench for the better part of the season, has now managed to break into the first line- up. He played for the whole match again on Wednesday when they defeated Maritzburg United 2-0 in Rustenburg. The victory puts pressure on Chiefs who had earlier dropped three points to Ajax Cape Town. Chiefs loss and Stars' victory have now thrown the league title wide open. Ngele missed the Wednesday match, but remains an integral part of the team. He is the current leading goal-scorer for his club, having scored 10 goals so far.
Stars will play Golden Arrows before taking on Supersport in the last game. Chiefs on the other hand meet Supersport and finish their season against Diphetogo Selolwane's University of Pretoria. Meanwhile, Mogorosi was on target again on Wednesday when his side, Bloemfontein Celtic, defeated Mogogi Gabonamong's Supersport 2-1. Mogorosi opened the scoring in the 26th minute. Both Gabonamong and Mogorosi played the entire match.
Selowane played for 79 minutes during his side's 2-1 loss to Bidvest Wits. Zebras' midfielder, Ofentse Nato, came on for Wits in the 85th minute, replacing Calvin Kadi. Nato has been seeing little action since the arrival of former Bafana Bafana coach Clive Barker at the team.
