Fong-Kong airport roof blown off

The airport expansion project, carried out by Chinese company Sino-Hydro  at a cost of over P500 million, remains incomplete. Government has since  terminated the tender.

 The poor workmanship at the project finally resulted in the roof on the western side of the terminal being blown off, shocking airport visitors.

According to the managers of the airport, the Civil Aviation Authority 50 sheets were counted on the ground later. On Friday a team of assessors were seen  on site to assess the magnitude of the damage caused by the storm. Repairs to the roof were expected to resume sometime on Friday. The Civil Aviation Authority says  the airport has temporarily closed the International Arrivals wing as water was pouring into the area. A temporary International Arrivals arrangement has since been put up.

'There has been no disruption on the operations of the airport as all flights have been arriving and departing per schedule. CAAB would like to apologise to its international arrivals passengers for any inconvenience that may arise from this incident and will, in cooperation with other stakeholders, do everything in its power to bring the situation to normality at the earliest possible time', said the Civil Aviation Authority spokesman Chris Nkwe.
