The fired are head coach Daniel 'Chico' Nare, vice chairman Tiro Kganela, kit manager Donald Mopako and public relations officer Nelson Radijeng. The announcement was made through a press release signed by secretary general Modiri Garenamotse. It said the agreement to fire the four was reached at a special general meeting convened on Sunday. The communiqu further advised the media to stop any form of communication regarding the club with the four.
The four were expelled while still serving a suspension over a disciplinary matter. They were recently served with the suspension after being accused of influencing players to write a letter calling for the sack of chairperson Sonny Phiri. The suspension contradicts what BMC, the company corporate communications manager Kganela said last week when he said the committee has been dissolved.Kganela was responding to claims by the Phiri led committee that the club exists as a society and any one wanting to do business should come to them.
It had emerged that businessman Esfandier Ghodrati was close to striking a deal with the company management to purchase the club without the involvement of the committee. 'The committee is dissolved and the deal can only be between the new owner and Tombale (acting BMC CEO),' Kganela had said. When contacted for comment yesterday, Phiri declined to give any information to this reporter saying he has a pending personal issue with this publication and will not be giving any interviews. 'I have a pending issue with you guys (Mmegi) and until that issue is resolved, I am not going to give you any interviews,' he said. This was after he had asked to be called earlier saying he was still going into a meeting. Garenamotse referred Mmegi Sport to Phiri saying he was on sick leave.
Meanwhile Nare said he did not know anything about his expulsion and only read about it in the social media.'I did not receive any communication about that. The only time I received a letter was when I was suspended pending investigations. Their investigations were completed and they have not said anything,' he said.He said as far as he is concerned he has a running contract with the club, which he signed this January. He said he understands that the club is going through some transition and has decided to keep mum over any issues until the transition is over. ' I am yet to give my side of the story when the transition is over. I am a company employee so I have to respect the company when they are still sorting the transition out,' he said.
