Sasa Klaas: Fierce behind the mic

In an interview with Showbiz, Klaas revealed that it has taken her some years to get where she in now.  She said that as a female rapper she has had to overcome being undermined by both male rappers and the general public who usually pass judgement before they even see her in action.  'I hate being undermined as a female artist.

However, I have used that to my advantage to push hard and that it is slowly but surely paying off and proving to be worthwhile,' she said.Klaas, who says she has been rapping since she was 14, rose to fame with the release of her song A Ke Mo Khandeng which features artist Thato Matlhabaphiri who trades by the stage name SCAR.

The song has to date been receiving massive airplay on various radio stations.  Her other song HADSAN also elevated her status in the music industry and has seen her become a household name in hip-hop circles after it was released  around February this year. She explains that she released HADSAN, which stands for Hustle All Day Stunt All Night, as a way to prove that she is equally capable as much as male rappers in the industry.  Klaas added that she and her other two co-partners will release a clothing label under the same name.

Klaas said that although she has just released singles and been featured by other artists, she is currently working on releasing an album. She said that because she is a choosy person when it comes to beats, it might take a while for the album to be released.'I am very fussy when it comes to my beats.  I want what I want; so it usually takes time for the songs to come out,' she said.  Apart from being a pro behind the mic, Klaas is able to combine her lyrics with a few dance moves through twerking.  Twerking is a form of dancing that has attracted a large following amongst the youth.  Klaas, however, said that she does not want to focus on twerking as it might shift her attention away from her rapping.  She explained that she did not deliberately learn how to twerk but it just happened because she has the body that allows her to do so.  Klaas said that she has managed to secure a spot at the upcoming Joe Thomas concert where she would be starring with Samantha Mogwe and Drama Boi.
