Granny pleads guilty To assaulting friend

Baleseng Gase of Lepashe is said to have pushed and injured Koosaletse Koosaletse on August 15, 2011 at the aforementioned village.  Koosaletse sustained a broken leg.The unemployed Gase appeared in person and pleaded guilty to the charge.

'I plead guilty as charged my Lord. What is written in the charge sheet is very true. I pushed Koosaletse because I was drunk. I did not intend to cause any harm to her. We are friends and we normally drink together. There is no how I could have injured her intentionally. I didn't even expect her to fall down,' Gase pleaded. She further explained to the court that she has transport problems as she has to travel from the remote Lepashe to come to court. She also told the magistrate that she expected the issue to be resolved at the customary court. The accused is currently on bail.  Bagopi ordered the prosecution to serve the accused with statements and he set the next mention date for June 13, 2013.

Constable Oteng Selalame of Dukwi Police Station represented the state.In another matter, a 33-year-old Zimbabwean national, Tusungunura Mhuruyengwe, also appeared before Bagopi on a single charge of obtaining by false pretence.  According to Selalame, Mhuruyengwe obtained an amount of P25,600 from Boniface Olubayo by falsely pretending that he was going to buy him a car in South Africa. 

'The accused person, during December 2012, at the Dukwi Refugee Camp defrauded Olubayo the sum of P25,600 by falsely pretending that he was going to purchase him a car in South Africa,' explained Selalame.Selalame applied for bail for the accused under the condition that he pays P3,000 cash and provides two sureties worth P200 each.  The accused was also told not to interfere with state witnesses and to report to Dukwi Police station every Monday and Friday during working hours.

The accused was granted bail on all the conditions stated by the prosecutor.  The accused was remanded in custody until he fulfilled his bail conditions.  He will come for mention on June.
