Satmos back in the Premier League

The two teams came into the match after playing to a one all draw in Jwaneng a fortnight ago. Satmos attained promotion thanks to an away goal rule. The match started with both sides playing cautiously, wary of conceding early goals. Comets was the first to launch an attack on the 5th minute through a shot by Goareng Supang but Satmos goalkeeper Murambiwa Ndlovu was there to save the day.The hosts seemed a bit unsteady, as if they were visitors.

The strikers easily lost possession of the ball going forward. Satmos tried to launch their attacks on the left wing but Comets defence was all the time on the alert. Supang had another clear chance at goal on the 20th minute, but his attempt hit the outside netting. Satmos towering striker, Mogakolodi Balatotse could have put his side in the lead but he wasted time dribbling in front of goal and Comets defence took it off the danger zone. On the 30th minute, Satmos had another chance to score, but Lesego Moiphemedi's shot hit the goal pole.

After the break, the two sides came back with a change of game plan. Satmos had an upper hand, putting pressure on the visitors. On the 48th minute, Satmos called for a penalty saying a Comets defender had handled the ball. The spot kick was disallowed. Satmos could have long finished the match, but they were let down by their strikers.Speaking to Sport Monitor after the match, Comets coach Kelebogile Seomokwena said they tried their best but in the end failed. He observed that the away goal rule has killed them. He explained that his number one striker, Benjamin Maule was rusty because he missed the first match.

'This is my first season with the side and finishing in the second position is a big achievement. We just have to recruit more players because at the moment we do not have enough depth - It means that players do not compete for positions,' said Seomokwana.  For his part, Satmos coach China Mading said he was impressed with his players for the way they played. He said gaining promotion means he should go back and plan, and most importantly get new players, especially strikers.
