Headmen, Tribe In Standoff

Pule had called the meeting in a bid to resolve the conflict that is threatening to sow divisions within the tribe. At the centre of the dispute is Herero headman Peter Brown.  His accusers say he is absconding from work and wants him deposed.

The headman's opposers, led by Sam Ngulovandu, Moses Mogunda and David Mholo, snubbed the meeting saying the kgotla is an illegal venue chosen by Brown. This was the response Pule got from a party he sent to call the disgruntled group to the meeting.

Pule advised that as long as the government recognises Brown as headman, there is no way he can address meetings in the Herero ward away from Brown's kgotla. He then called off the meeting stating that he would have to report back to Bakwena Paramount Chief Kgosi Kgari III on the progress of the meeting.Brown denied all the allegations.
