Orange Campaign Donates To Tlamelo Trust

Mabogo Dinku is an Orange Botswana staff-led corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative that aims to support the less privileged through encouraging employee participation and volunteerism. The programme is in line with the Vision 2016 pillar of a Compassionate, Just and Caring Nation.

Speaking at the official handover, Orange president of sporting and network monitoring team Nonono Kgaodi said the relationship between Orange and Tlamelo started four years ago when they took over from an Orange-sponsored rugby team that set out to better the lives of less privileged children.

He explained that the programme relies entirely on workers emphasising that this year's donation was raised through the once a  month civic day initiative. He pointed out that workers also contributed usable winter clothes and blankets for donation and spent the day with the children to give them moral and motivational support.Tlamelo Trust coordinator Mathata Mosekwa told The Monitor that they rely heavily on donations such as Orange's for survival as they do not receive any funding from the government.

He emphasised that the centre offers social and counselling services to orphans and underprivileged children in Old Naledi on a daily basis. Mosekwa also noted that the centre, which opened in 1998, also operates a feeding project for children, educational support, sporting activities and counselling to about 180 children with the donations from corporates and individuals.
