'HELP, WE NEED HELP PLEASE'

 

After his team's 10th loss in the Mascom Volleyball League, Mekgwe said they needed immediate help if they were to be competitive because from the 12 matches that they have played so far, Tanian have won only one against Victory Seekers.The Serowe based outfit suffered a 3-0 whitewashing at the hands of Kalavango on Saturday.The road continued to be bumpy for poor Tanian as they later lost their last game of first round to BDF VI.

In their match against Kalavango, Tanian failed to combine and play as a unit in a match that had nothing much to write home about. Players from both teams committed schoolboy errors in a lukewarm encounter.Against Kalavango, Tanian faced an equally weak side but just failed to step up. They lost all the sets 25-18.

In a post-match interview with Sport Monitor, coach Mekgwe said his team is faced with a host of problems, including financial constraints.He said because his side is based in a village it is not easy to get financial partners.He added that on Saturday his players used public transport and arrived just a few minutes to kick-off.The other problem that the team faces is that most of their players are students, something that makes training difficult.Mekgwe, however, did not think that they lost to Kalavango because they were a superior side.The coach said they would not give up in their quest for top honours.

For his part, Kalavango coach Tshepo Lesotho was impressed with his team's performance, saying players took instructions well. The coach pointed out that he used players who are often on the bench to test their readiness.Lesotho, whose team is currently in the top eight, targets winning more matches in the second half.'We do not have any chance of winning the league so we are targeting top-six finish,' he said.
