Big night beckons for Amos

He has been nominated in the male junior category against Khaya Groth of karate and swimming's Andrian Todd. He also stands to win the biggest gong on the night - the Sportsperson of the Year award. World 400 metre champion, Amantle Montsho has won the award for three consecutive years. But Amos looks set to end Montsho's dominance. Amos became the first Motswana to win a medal at the Olympics since Botswana started participating in 1981. His other notable achievement was winning a gold medal at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain, and setting a Games record. The glamorous event is held every year to reward athletes and administrators who excelled in the past year.

The event that has always been held at Boipuso hall, has been shifted to the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) under the theme, 'History is written...Impossible is nothing'.  Former South African swimmer, Natalie Dutoit will be guest speaker with South African veteran singer Hotsticks Mabuze will be the guest performer. Other performers will be Vee, ATI and Nnunu.
