BDF VI poised to end first round top

The SSKB based side is expected to walk in the park against Tanian tomorrow in their last game as the league reaches the halfway mark.  The defending champions have thus far collected 33 points after winning all their 11 matches.

After a brave fight against tough sides like Kutlwano and Diphatsa, the army side is expected to blow away Tanian tomorrow. Tanian occupies 12th spot with 12 points after winning only one game. But in the rare event that BDF loses they will end with 34 points the same points that could be collected by Diphatsa and Kutlwano should they win their last two matches each. However, BDF will have a superior set difference.

Mabutho said they are on the way to defending the title, but pointed out that it has been tougher than last season. BDF finished the first round having dropped only two sets last season as opposed to five this time. The come back of youngster Loatile Tiro who picked an injury last season boosted the team.

The likes of setter Tjiyapo Madeluka and veteran attacker Francis Dingwe have been influential in the team's impressive run. Another attacker Oscar Kurwana continued from where he left last year after returning for studies. An intriguing battle, however, is expected between second placed Kutlwano and Diphatsa. Both teams have collected the same number of points and are separated by set difference. Pressure will be more on Diphatsa to beat Kutlwano for a superior set difference.

The Francistown based side has in its favour 27 points against Kutlwano's 29. In other matches at the SSKB, Spiking Stars take on Victory Seekers, while Kalavango play Tanian. Prisons and Magstimela will square off also. In Otse, Mafolofolo play Police on Sunday. In the women's league, second placed Kutlwano will have a date with Diphatsa while Prisons face Magstimela.  The Prisons versus Police match will wrap up the weekend fixtures in Otse on Sunday.
