Messy transfer battle looms over Moyana

With a controversial transfer battle already looming between traditional rivals Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers over Moyana, fresh reports suggesting he has penned a three-year-deal with South Africa's Platinum Stars could add a fresh dimension to the saga.

Moyana signed two contracts with local giants Chiefs and Rollers before travelling to South Africa with Chiefs chairman, Ernest Molome to meet a potential suitor.Moyana, whose deal with Chiefs expired last December, played the entire second half of the season without a contract.

Rollers are said to have been courting him for the last three months and, at some point, wrote a letter to Chiefs requesting to speak to the player. Chiefs' response was that he still had a running contract with them. But Rollers, after ascertaining the player's status, went ahead and tied the talented winger to a two-year lucrative deal last week and had it endorsed by the Premier League on Monday morning.

Moyana's representative in the Rollers deal, Olebile Sikwane, confirmed his client had penned a two-year deal with Rollers last Thursday.'We actually signed with Rollers last week; I was surprised when the boy sent me an sms saying he had signed with Chiefs.'I'm, once again, disappointed because I expected him to respect the contract he signed with Rollers,' Sikwane told Mmegi Sport.Moyana is said to have been informed that a South African club had inquired about him and Chiefs were behind the deal.

However, Sikwane distanced himself from the South African club links, saying he was unaware of any immediate interest. On the other hand, Chiefs' communications manager, Clifford Mogomotsi said he was unaware that Moyana had signed another deal with Rollers. He confirmed the player was currently in Johannesburg, South Africa with a club that is interested in him. Even so, he said there was no truth that the player had signed for Stars.'We are not aware that Rollers have signed a contract with him because the last we heard from them was an inquiry to speak to the player.

We told them he was still our player so there is no way they could have signed him,' Mogomotsi said.Asked whether Moyana had renewed his deal after his previous deal expired last December, he said: 'Is it an offence not to have a contract (with a player).'Chiefs reportedly handed in the new contract on Tuesday after Rollers' had already been endorsed and the two league giants are headed for a showdown over the player.Rollers managing director, Gobuiwang Sommerset initially claimed he was in the bank when contacted for comment before asking this reporter to call after hours saying he was in a meeting.

Meanwhile, Platinum Stars' coach Calvin Johnson professed ignorance over the Moyana alleged deal.'I'm not sure about that, I'll have to find out from the office. But I watched him play for the national team recently,' he said.
