ECCO seek to end Rollers' jinx

The best result they have got against the Gaborone giants is a draw. Last season when ECCO was on top form, Rollers surprised many people when they humiliated the champions 3-0 at the Molepolole Sports Complex.

But ECCO has warned Mapalistina that history will count for nothing when they clash in this eagerly-awaited game. ECCO spokesperson Nelson Legwatagwata said that they have never played Rollers in a cup game but they will make them pay dearly. 'It's nice that we're coming as underdogs.

I agree that we've never beaten them but this is cup football. The good thing is that Rollers are coached by Chicco Nare whom we beat thrice last season when he was at Mochudi Centre Chiefs,' said Legwatagwata. ECCO's key men will be captain Malepa 'Chippa' Bolelang, Nicholas Mathare, Gabaratanelwe Kgosietsile and Tebogo Sembowa. The Francistown side booked a date against Rollers after beating Lobtrans Gunners on penalties in Mahalapye.

They face a Rollers' side that has promised to send them packing from the tournament. Rollers' assistant publicity officer Pule 'Malombo' Ramaabya warned the league champions that they will be mourning on their journey back to Francistown. 'We've never lost to ECCO City and we're not going to break that record.

We'll open the football books for them,' he said. Ramaabya pleaded with their supporters to come in large numbers to intimidate their opponents before kick-off. He said that Gabriel Bokhutlo and Lesego Molemogi are carrying minor injuries but they might be ready for tomorrow's game. Rollers' attack will be led by Bernard Semakwezi, Under-23 stars' Kaone Molefe and Thebe Maiketso. The match is scheduled to start at 3pm.
