Maposa commits to GU

'We had a meeting with him this week and we talked about Chiefs' interest in him. We asked whether he was aware and willing to go, but he assured us that he is not interested in moving that side,' GU secretary, Herbert Letsebe told Mmegi Sport yesterday. Noah joined GU two years ago from Chiefs in a move that shocked many Magosi supporters. He had been with Chiefs since his early football years.

Recently Chiefs wrote to GU seeking permission to speak to the player and hit a brick wall, according to Letsebe.Chiefs are reported to have been willing to buy him out of contract. 'We told them that he is not for sale.We had shown interest in their two players, Elvis Meleka and Lesego Galenamotlhale, and they also told us that they were not for sale,' he said.  He denied reports that they had put a half-a-million price tag on him. 'That is not true. Of course the player is at the beginning of his three-year contract, which started this month. It is worth around P550, 000 but we never told anyone that we would sell him for P500, 000. He is not for sale and we have told Chiefs just that,' Letsebe added.

There were reports that South African First Division side, Thanda Royal Zulu, were interested in assessing Maposa. Letsebe, however, said nothing came out of it because Thanda Royal Zulu seemed to drag their feet on the matter. He confirmed that they had received a letter from the South African club who said they were impressed by Maposa's heroics at the just ended COSAFA Senior Challenge in Zambia. He said Thanda were interested in offering the player trials, but the letter did not have much details.

GU wrote back to Thanda to clarify issues of transport for the player as well as accommodation and whether the player should come alone. They never got a response, according to Letsebe. 'We even called them and got hold of a certain Gumede who confirmed that they had written a letter to us. But after that they never picked our calls up and that is where it is right now,' he added. Maposa is currently in camp with the national team, preparing for the CHAN match against Zambia at Molepolole Sports Complex tomorrow.
