Moruti to know his fate soon

The former Under-20 midfielder has not played a league game since the beginning of the season after making a switch from Santos to Gunners. It was later revealed that Santos refused to release the player's registration book to Gunners after he reportedly signed a three-year deal with the Lobatse club. Moruti was signed by Santos from Maletamotse in January 2012 and put some fine displays for the Gabane club until the end of last season when he attracted Gunners interest. The player's case was then taken to the PSC, but delays in resolving the matter saw Moruti being among a host of other players waiting on the sidelines as their cases were shelved.

A new PSC was ushered into office towards the end of the year and immediately dealt with some pending cases, but Moruti's case was left behind. The new chairperson of the PSC subcommittee on transfers Olsen Mantle told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they are about to dispose off Moruti's case and he will be able to return to Premier League action soon.

He said they could have dealt with the case in their last meeting held on December 12, but could not do so as clubs did not the information they had requested. He said they had just opened from festive break and would meet tomorrow, or next week Tuesday to make a ruling on the case, provided they have all the information they need.

Mantle said they do not intend to drag cases as they have players' welfare at heart. 'We do not want to be the stumbling block in players' careers, hence we want to deal with any case as soon as possible so that the player can continue playing,' he said.

He said clubs are sometimes to blame for causing delays as they engage in unnecessary boardroom disputes while failing to furnish the committee with necessary information needed to close some cases, and move forward with an appeal if necessary. Other players who had pending cases at the PSC were Lovemore Murirwa who was destined for Township Rollers but his move stalled when his former clubs BMC and ECCO City Greens wrangled over his ownership.

Another player who experienced a transfer hitch was Lemogang Maswena whose move from Notwane to Rollers hit a snag after Notwane declared they still owned the player after he signed a contract with Rollers. Frustrated after waiting on the sidelines for long, Maswena finally returned to Notwane and played some matches towards the end of the first round of the league.
