DJ Shyne set to rise!

The 22-year-old lad says he started his career in the mining town of Jwaneng where the ever-vibrant night scene inspired him.'I was inspired by the environment that I grew up in. There were a lot of DJs around me, so that triggered my love for spinning the decks,' he says.Thebe says he started hanging out with DJs so that he would learn what they were doing.  It is during this time that he developed a strong urge to pursue a course related to music, so he enrolled at the Academy of Sound Engineering in Johannesburg, South Africa where he studied Sound Engineering.  Thereafter, he worked for a number of radio stations and well-known artists in South Africa.'I worked at Metro fm, and with the likes of Liquideep, Freddi Fonz, DJ Clock and DJ Cleo,' he said.

In 2011, Shyne says he decided to pack his bags and return to Botswana to try new things in the industry.'I am currently helping out my best friend A.T.I market his album Polao Ya Motho, but at the end of February I'm due to release my first house album, 'My Life that I'm producing,' Shyne said. The album features the track Still Dreaming that is currently playing on Yarona fm and RB2.  He said the former My Star winner, Amantle whom he chose to work with because he enjoys working with local artists, did the track When You Decide. DJ Shyne says he owns a bedroom studio where he spends most of his time and has used it to record tracks for local artists like Motswafere, Amantle, Kkarli Beats and Mosako ever since he relocated to Botswana.

Shyne revealed that the 48hr Farm Fest, which was Botswana's first huge entertainment show was his idea and he formed part of the organising team. He said: 'It wasn't really a challenge playing at an event this big because I have already played at events as big as this genre in Polokwane like the Polokwane-Vaal Beach Party and the Eastrand Spring Fiesta, so it was a piece of cake I'd say myself.'DJ Shyne is looking forward to an even bigger 48hr Farm Fest this year and says he wants it to be better than the previous one.He says that although his sets are pre-planned, people love his work because he mostly plays his own songs and people enjoy them.  He describes himself as a 'dedicated drum head' to explain that he loves any music genre that is built on drums.

In his free time, Shyne enjoys hanging out at home glued to his Playstation and producing beats.  He also runs the popular Dladleng Club in Moshupa on behalf of his family.  He says he always pushes himself to the maximum because there are people who are always looking forward to his work who he doesn't want to disappoint.  He repeatedly emphasises that being a DJ is something he does to pass time but he has aspirations of achieving many other goals.
