No new date on league resumption

The league was to resume on the second weekend of the New Year, but had to be deferred due to the fact that the first half of the season went un-televised.The league is pressed to get the second round fixtures televised and indications are that a deal with South African pay-per-view channel, SuperSport, is imminent.  BPL chief executive officer (CEO), Bennett Mamelodi briefed the board on the meetings he had with SuperSport in Johannesburg late last week. Mamelodi and Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Tebogo Sebego met SuperSport officials and made headway on the deal. He said Tuesday's board meeting that went late into the night did not produce any solid resolutions. No decision was made on the resumption of the league that had been initially set for January 12. The last time the board met, they had said the new date would be announced after this week's meeting.

Instead, the board will reconvene on Sunday morning to map the way forward. 'We needed to give them feedback in terms of how we travelled to South Africa. 'Discussions continued late into the night so the meeting was pushed to Sunday,' said Mamelodi. He said the board would re-look into the new dates on Sunday. An early kick-off had been planned to allow the league to end in May.
