Through the Swipe-and-Win promotion, in which the bank gives away a variety of prizes to customers that would have swiped their cards for payments, Barclays says it has paid out P182, 440 in cash prizes since November last year.
Announcing winners for the first phase of the competition in Gaborone on Friday, Barclay's Consumer Director Peo Motshegare said the objective of the competition was to encourage customers to use their cards for all transactions. 'We want to encourage customers to use their cards because they are convenient payment tools as compared to cash,' she said.
She said through these competitions, Barclays aims to build closer ties with its customers. She said the competition stretched from November 2012 to January 2013 and 15 winners were awarded on Friday. Motshegare explained that there are already 40 winners for this competition but among them, 20 will walk away with cash back amounting to the total value of goods they purchased.
She said the final winner, who shall walk away with P100 000, would be announced next month.Motshegare stated that winners from the previous week were still eligible for the final competition.
