Speaking at the handover of a computer lab at Lesirane Primary School in Tsolamosese on Tuesday, Mmolawa urged the gathering to help secondary schools with ideas on how they can take part in this initiative. She said after seeing this year's appalling Junior Certificate (JC) results she realised that government cannot win the battle of improving on students learning process and academic results alone.
She therefore encouraged companies to come on board and assist schools where they can. Cloudseed Computer Company donated 24 computers with Internet that they installed in the lab. The company is also training both the children and teacher on how to use the computers.
Mmolawa encouraged the management of Lesirane Primary School to assist other schools in the area market themselves to private companies. She also pointed out the importance of community members playing a positive role in the academic performance of learners through supporting them and donating tools to enhance their learning process.
She further said if more learners had access to computers their academic marks would possibly improve as youth are more interested in exploring technology and learning through internet and social media. 'It's important that teachers and parents come together to help us achieve our goals of ensuring learners are educated and pass with good marks.
We want different stakeholders to assist us make a positive impact on the lives of our children,' she added. The school headmaster Bertha Dintwe thanked Cloudseed for their goodwill and the donation. She said the computer lab would open the learners to a whole new world. She added that she intends to learn from other schools and exchange ideas on how to benchmark with private companies.
