School-head pleads not guilty of causing death

The state alleges that Ignatius Ngele, headmaster of Robelela Primary School in the Central District, caused the death of Onkabetse Kopano on September 26, 2009 at Lekobeng cattle post through recklessly driving his car.Prosecutor Manson Kebiditswe said investigations were complete and the state would call six witnesses to prove its case.Mulalu set January 20, 2014 for case management conference. The trial dates were set for August 4 and 5, 2014.

Meanwhile, Michael Ndaba, 28, appeared in court on one count of murder and two of causing serious bodily harm that he allegedly committed on August 11, 2013 at Japane cattle post in the Central District.In the first count the state alleges that Ndaba fatally stabbed Morena Jonas.Sergeant Kabelo Moremi applied for the charge sheet to be changed because the murder victim died last week from the stab wounds.He also applied for plea to be reserved in all counts.

Initially Ndaba was charged with causing serious bodily harm to Jonas by stabbing him with a sharp object several times.On the other two counts Ndaba is alleged to have stabbed Chandapiwa Bule and Peter Makhaya with a sharp object several times.Moremi told the court that investigations in the matters were continuing and applied for the accused to be remanded in custody.The accused was remanded and will appear in court on September 11 for mention.
