Miss Botswana top 16 chosen

The fashion show, which attracted quite a large audience, was under the theme 'Fashion Meets Light' and was held at Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC). The contestants paraded different garments that were designed by local designers who were also competing for the best designer award, which in the end was clinched by Lesedi Matlapeng.

Other designers included Aobakwe Molosiwa of Glided Sands who seems to be popular with the youth and Botho Chalebgwa of Bothocy, and Lebang Kgosana who is famous for her leather made bags, hats and belts. Pinkie Jewellers supplied jewellery for the night. Even though some ladies did not make it to the top 16, credit has to be given to all of the contestants as they all proved that walking in high heals is work on its own as many of them kept tripping but the confidence in them kept them going on as the audience gave them standing ovations and cheered them on.

The cherry on the top for the event was the breathtaking performance that was displayed by South African singer songwriter, Toya Delazy. The young lady who seems to be everybody's favourite these days had many off their chairs with hits that seem to not only be topping the SA charts but also international charts, the song bird provoked many emotions when she again played her keyboard and sang out.

The decks were under the rightful hands of DJ Massie Hule and local jazz sensation Nnunu Ramogotsi was the curtain-raiser as she also lit up the stage with her performance. The 16 girls who have been chosen will go into a training camp, which will prepare them for public life and mostly how they should handle themselves specifically after crowning. The organisers say that the training will include cultural training, physical fitness or healthy living, beauty and personal hygiene training, media and public relations as well as personal brand management.

Sharon Seno, Baeti Sebera, Rosemary Keofitlhetse, Tlotlo Patlakwe, Enrica Herbst, Tsaone Mogapi, Nono Popong, Betty Seatholo, Khumo Leburu, Bodiba Moesi, Chebu Jimmy, Segomotso Ramolefe, Refilwe Motaung, Tseo Seitiso, Sandra Mosweo and Baboloki Mathware are the ladies who will be competing for this year's crown.
