Modipane United demolish Young Strikers

The Modipane side went into the match in position four on the log and needed victory to stay the course.Their efforts yielded two successive goals just before the half hour mark. The first came in the 24th minute through Molatlhegi Podile with Moshe Tlhaolang making it 2-0 four minutes later. After the two goals, Young Strikers seemed to wake up and give Modipane a run for their money. But the scores were 3-0 at the break after Thabani Ngwenya scored a third goal on the stroke of half time.

he Zimbabwean striker received a pass just outside the 18-yard box and coolly placed the ball in the far right corner. Thirty seconds into the second half, Ngwenya had his effort cleared off the line.Former Mogoditshane Fighters anchorman, Patrick Dikalanyane's blistering shot from outside the box made it 4-0 in the 60th minute.

Despite the setback, Strikers waged a good fight but often found a resolute Modipane defence impregnable. Strikers nearly pulled one back  in the 65th minute when Matshidiso Masuge's effort hit the cross bar and bounced back into play. Five minutes before the end, Modipane striker Thato Mokgwa scored from close range to make it 5-0.

Mokgwa had been on the pitch for barely a minute after coming on from the bench. Dikalanyane said the big-margin win was a boost as they wrap up the season. 'It was a beautiful goal.

I am quite happy because this is a big-margin win and we did not concede a goal,' he said. The win leaves United in the top four bracket with Jwaneng Comets and Wonder Sporting still in the lead.
