Arguably the most decorated rhumba stars in Botswana, Jeff Matheatau and Frank 'Franco' Lesokwane kept their fans on their toes throughout the show that started around 11pm until dawn.
The show, which attracted a capacity crowd, left many shouting for encores as the two musicians belted out their top of the range songs. If what Matheatau and Franco displayed were anything to go by, then the duo were out to silence their critics who had been thinking that Kwasa-Kwasa music's death was nigh.
The two made waves and were celebrated in most parts of the country in early 2000s. But their popularity seemed to have taken a tumble. However, the weekend performance rekindled their yesteryears as they played with stunning verve, earning themselves applause from the revellers.
Matheatau, who is set to release his eighth album soon, was the first to trot onto the stage and the crowd welcomed him with a standing ovation.
He put up a memorable show so much that when he left the stage, revellers were still asking for more.
The treatment accorded Matheatau was extended to the soft spoken but gifted Franco as jubilant revellers mobbed the stage as soon as he jumped on the stage and performed his waist-wriggling dance. With his trademark voice, Franco sent his fans wild when he jumped onto the stage and resonated the stanza Isa o ngwanake. The song sent revellers wild as they put on their dancing shoes.Fans sang along as the Gabane-born star held them spell-bound for close to an hour.
