The duo is now working with Daniel's Dallas-based recording company, Dagee Records. The rappers sent mixtapes to the Dallas-based DJ three months ago and he was impressed, which is for this reason that they have entered into an agreement. Under the new arrangement, the artists receive beats produced in America and then record with Daniel's Gaborone-based affiliate, Sbale Molebatsi. The material is then sent to the US for editing, mixing and mastering.
'I actually send the songs to Europe for mastering where they are mastered at Partyman Mastering. The beats they used were produced here (US) by me, all I do is to send them the beats,'he told Showbiz.
Daniel is convinced fresh and unique tunes will come out of the partnership. 'Batswana should expect something fresh because we are working hard on this one. I really like the way the boys deliver, they mix Setswana and English in their rap to an extent that my American friends and artist want to collaborate with them and we are just doing that, adding some new flavour to their music,' he said.
He added that the plan was to forcefully market the young artistes as well as arrange shows for them locally.Daniel has also signed up some DJs including DJ Sycho Al Salam and Kevin Da Quest.
'The list also includes DJs. I plan to sign more young talent in Botswana because I realise there is massive talent in the country and want to take advantage of my new region (USA),' he said. Plans are also underway to hold workshops in the country.
The former Steady Niggers rapper has warned the artists against singing about fast life, fast cars and beautiful girls. He instead suggests that they focus on positive life experiences that can help fans.
Shanay said he will use this opportunity to breathe a fresh breath into his music. 'He's quite good and it is obviously a positive thing for my career to be working with him. He sent us a lot of quality beats and that will change our music,' he said.
While the 2004 My African Dream finalist is already known in the market, Bonekurs is still a new name in the music industry. Shanay released his debut album, The Hip Hop Shower back in 2004.
