Sedibelo Soccer Expo returns

The tournament, which forms part of the annual Sedibelo Heritage activities, brings together the district's former soccer greats giving soccer followers a synopsis of how the game has developed in Kgatleng over the years.

The games kick off at 8:00 am with eight select teams from across the region. The final game will be between Mochudi rivals Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Mochudi Buffaloes. However, unlike the other eight teams, the final will feature the two teams' current crop of players. Fans will be reminded of the old good days when sublime skills defined a good player, instead of their tactical awareness. Former Mochudi Rovers and one time national team striker Kwapeng Modikwe will lead a team of former stars like Reuben Tshwenene and Disono Molefhe, the former Mogoditshane Fighters defender.

The Chiefs legends team will have among others, Liter Kwapa, Ceasar Dintwe and Skep Madisa. The Buffaloes Oldies will have among others, Andy Stanton as well as Benny Magetse. The river villages of Mabalane, Sikwane, Ramonaka, Mmathubudukwane and Malolwane will be represented by a selected team called Madikwe XI legends.

The old Artesia Pirates  will represent Kgatleng west in the exhibition games, while another team has been selected from the village of Morwa comprising former players from Dynamos and Morwa Rising Stars. The team will boast the likes of former Township Rollers and Notwane star, Kaiser Johannes as well as Moripe Masire. The Dikgosi and religious leaders (Baruti) from various parts of the district will form another team which will play against Molaodi XI, a team comprising of district councilors and civil servants.

Former national team player Michael 'Spokes' Gaborone and Oscar Mosielele will be guest stars for the Dikgosi team.
