Tafic players boycott training over slaries

When Mmegi Sports visited Leseding grounds, the side's training field, on Monday, only a few first team players were among the 15 players who took part during the afternoon session out of 25 on the club's books. A source a close to the club revealed that the TAFIC is yet to pay even their coach Dominic Changwe his October dues.

The likes of captain Mosimanegape Roberts and Bongani Ranji, who are regulars, were absent from training as they are owed salaries.  'Some players have chosen to shun training because they constantly complain about their unpaid wages and lack of transport money. 'Even the players who pitch up for training are disgruntled as they complain about shortage of food and their poor welfare,' the source alleged.

The source also blamed the club management for the club's recent string of losses after the team started brightly at the beginning of the 2012/2013 season. 'How do you expect the players to deliver when they are not getting paid? It is hard for the coach to push the players when they play on an empty stomach.

'For the coach it is also hard to motivate the players when he has not been paid as well,' complained the source.Mmegi Sport has also established that the club's poor financial state has forced it to shelve plans to sign Zimbabwean striker, Clarkson Dzimbiri from the defunct Police XI.

Dzimbiri was reportedly in the city this week to work on a possible move to the side but it has since emerged that lack of funds has killed the deal. Contacted for comment, TAFIC public relations officer Dubani Dubani acknowledged that the club is currently facing financial problems.

'It is true that we have not paid our coach and the players their October salaries. We are facing a serious cash flow problem. 'We are however, talking to some businesspeople to bail the club out of this worrying situation.'It is even difficult to motivate players when there is no money. We have also decided against bringing Dzimbiri on board because we do not have money,' he said.
