Uniao Flamengo Santos piled more misery on Township Rollers with a 2-1 victory in an exciting be MOBILE Premier League match played at Molepolole Sports Complex yesterday.
The youthful side capitalised on defensive errors by Rollers in each half to give Rollers their third loss of the season. Rollers central defence had a tough afternoon, committing silly errors. The defensive duo, Agisanyang Ramaabya and Oscar Ncenga had been rock solid for Rollers in the past season but on Sunday, they had a torrid time against the likes of Gofaone Tiro. Ramaabya in particular struggled for the entire first half and substituted in the second half. It took Santos only eight minutes to take the lead through Tiro. Tiro received a long ball upfront and beat Rollers defender, Ramaabya with pace. Rollers goalkeeper came off his line in an attempt to close down the angle but Tiro tapped it past him to give his side the lead. Rollers tried hard to get an equalizer but Santos goalkeeper, Chenjerai Dube denied them on several occasions. They finally got their goal in the 31st minute through winger, Kobamelo Kebaikanye after a good long pass from Maano Ditshupo. The two goals separated the two sides at half time.
Santos were the first to get a real scoring chance in the second half when midfielder, Kgaodi Odirile received the ball in the danger area. Odirile took a shot but Rollers goalkeeper, Bobby Mathe made a brilliant save from close range. Moments later, Santos took the lead once again when Erick Molefhi beat the off side trap and curled the ball past Mathe. Rollers pressed forward in search of an equaliser but Santos stood firm at the back until the final whistle.
