Khama to drive daddy's old cars

The two old presidential cars are being refurbished for use by the younger Khama.The newly appointed general manager of the Central Transport Organisation (CTO), Indian Col Ahluwalia, has already set the ball rolling by instituting tenders for the refurbishment of the two cars.President Khama will soon get a feel of the rides his father used to enjoy in the luxurious models.

An expert at Naledi Motors yesterday revealed that refurbishing 1978 and 1974 models may not be economically viable, save for when one is just a collector of vintage cars.Former president Festus Mogae tried to use one of the antique cars during his last term but got stuck along the busy Willie Seboni Drive.  He was later rescued by police officers after creating a traffic jam during the rare solo drive-around.

Asked why the CTO would not dispose of the cars that are now over 30 years old, Ahluwalia charged:

'You want to buy them? We will let you know when we decide to sell'. As to why they are reviving the cars now, he said: 'I don't have to share it with you. We are done with this conversation thank you'.
