KBL officials said the competition, among other things, looked at whether retailers sold KBL products at or below the recommended price. The company appointed a third party to monitor the retailers during the duration of the competition.
Dintwa said winning the competition has motivated him to work harder at his business. He is also grateful that KBL has been advising him on how to run his business. Dintwa said he is going to use the vehicle in his business operations.
'I used to run a bar which was doing well but the owner of the building decided to take over. I was forced to look for another premises that I purchased. This is where I am running the current bar. We transformed it into a brand.
It is now one of the top three bars in Letlhakane,' he said, proudly.Speaking at the awards ceremony, KBL managing director, Hloni Matsela said they were celebrating the achievements of their business partners. 'In April 2011, we launched an ambitious partnership program with our retailers called Mogwebi. The purpose of this partnership was to foster business relations to enable us to grow our businesses together, as we share common business objectives. Out of this partnership, not only did we manage to achieve our key objectives, we also managed to share best operating practices amongst ourselves for the first time in the history of our business.
This is important as we operate in the same business environment with common issues and goals. It also gives us the ability to benchmark with our peers as well as share learnings from each other for the benefit of our businesses,' he said.
He reflected that last year, 312 outlets enrolled in the Mogwebi partnership program and were all audited, as per the agreed performance indicators, once a month by an independent third party agency. The outlets with the highest scores per district won prizes. 'Some of the prizes included a trip to the bustling metropolis of Johannesburg or Jozi as some of you might call it, where our retailers had the opportunity to rub shoulders with the likes of the famous Lucas Radebe and the Englishman, Harry Redknap of Tottenham Hotspursfrom England. I am reliably informed that the winning team was dined and had many a beer asthey watched the Vodacom Challenge games.
They had, among others, the opportunity to visit former President Nelson Mandela's old home in Vilakazi Street. Some of you might have seen the paper inserts but this was just a taste of more to come in the following months,' the brewery boss said.
'At Kgalagadi Breweries we see ourselves as more than just your supplier. We regard ourselves as friends and partners, and we hope that the feeling is mutual. We would also like to highlight that our overall business growth this year couldn't have been made possible if it wasn't for your dedication, commitment and recommendation of our brands to consumers and for that we thank you. This program epitomises one of our company's key pillars which is 'working and winning in teams'. This we hope is evident from the achievements we made together so far,' he concluded.
