Known to their legion of supporters as 'Mamoja Diskie,' the 2007 Mascom Premier League champions and 2007 Coca-Cola Cup runners-up are now perched at position seven in the league after drawing 2-2 with FC Satmos last Saturday.
The club's secretary general, Moses Special shed light on a speculation doing the rounds that they have sacked their former coach (Tembo) who was with the team for just one season. Special said that the only thing they did was not to renew Tembo's contract, which expired this month.
'We did not renew the contract for the next season because we were not happy with the results. Twelve months is enough to see the performance of the team improving,' said Moses. He continued to say that for five years they have never been below position five, but since they signed Tembo, they have not achieved any promising results as they now find themselves at an unfavourable position on the league table.
With the Premier League still on going, the team has brought in Atshele Molapi as caretaker coach. Molapi was the assistant coach to Tembo and Special said they were now looking for a new coach. 'We are expecting an advertisement of the post to be released as soon as possible,' said Special. He urged supporters to stay positive.
When contacted, Tembo's response was a curt: 'No comment.'
