Two Mochudi Centre Chiefs players, Joel Mogorosi and Kekaetswe Moloi will battle it out with Township Rollers defender, Oscar Ncenga for the Player of the Season award. The striking pair helped Chiefs clinch this season's league title, scoring 26 goals each with a game in hand. Ncenga, on the other hand, has been consistently playing well for Rollers at the heart of the defence. Moloi, Mogorosi and Ncenga have also been nominated for the Supporters Player of the Year category, together with Kabelo Dambe (Rollers), Lemponye Tshireletso (BDF XI), Ntesang Simanyana (Rollers), Elvis Meleka (Chiefs) and Mogakolodi Ngele (Rollers).
Madinda Ndlovu, Daniel Nare and Nelson Setshwane have been nominated for the Coach of the Year award. Tirelo Mositwane, Omphile Phuthego and Lekgotla Johannes will slog it out for the Referee of the Year category, while Moemedi Monakwane, Moletlanyi and Gabokwalwe Gaolekwe are nominated for the Assistant Referee of the Year award. The Top Goalscorer as well as the Players' Player of the Year awards will be announced during the award ceremony.
Meanwhile, the battle for survival in the Premier League has now reached boiling point with two sides, Notwane and Uniao Flamengo Santos fighting for the remaining spot. The next fixtures will determine which of the two will join two other relegated sides, FC Satmos and Great North Tigers (GNT). Satmos were the first to bite the dust following a string of poor results. GNT joined them last Saturday following their 2-0 loss to another relegation threatened side, Notwane. Tshepiso Molwantwa and Nelson Moreetsi's goals in each half kept Notwane's hopes alive. It was Notwane's second successive victory, having defeated FC Satmos earlier this month, condemning Satmos to the lower division.
They have one game to play against Extension Gunners, which could either save or dump them to the lower division. Notwane have collected 26 points and are still placed at position 14. Santos have collected 28 points with two games remaining. Their match against Mogoditshane Fighters failed to take place after the former army side failed to pitch up at the venue recently.
The matter was then referred to BPL prosecutor, Tshiamo Rantao. They are to appear before the BPL disciplinary committee (DC) today. Both Santos and Notwane will be watching with keen interest the outcome of the hearing.Santos are also yet to play BDF XI in what would most likely be a match with far reaching ramifications. Santos sit at position 12 with 28 points from 28 games.
Meanwhile, Miscellaneous and TAFIC managed to survive the chop this past weekend with important victories.TAFIC defeated FC Satmos 2-0, while Miscellaneous clobbered Nico United by the same scoreline. With one game remaining, TAFIC are safe at number 11 with 33 points, while Miscellaneous are 12th with 31 points.
