GU In Coke Finals

Saukanai Zulu had put Matebele ahead with a powerful header, finishing of Otlantshekela Mooketsi's corner kick in the 29th minute, but Sageby Sandaka responded in the 52nd minute after a good combination with Ronald Chikomo. The match did not promise much excitement in the early stages as the two sides seemed more concerned about conceding than scoring, but things changed after 15 minutes.

Action heated up with GU controlling the match, while their opponents seemed to rely on counter attacks. Chikomo came very close just two minutes after he supplied Sandaka for the equaliser, but Michael Pepukani tipped the ball over the cross bar. Sandaka broke loose again in the 55th minute, but once again Pepukani's brilliance denied him his second goal as the young goal minder fisted for a corner kick again.

BDF XI lacked the killer punch in front of goal Lemponye Tshireletso blowing over the cross bar on two occasions when he only had Noah Maposa to beat.

GU clearly wanted to add on to their goal and a good combination between veteran midfielder Steven Maposa, Sandaka and Chikomo paid off on the  73rd when the latter scored the second for GU. With Patrick Motsepe failing to control things in the middle of the park, and Alphonse Modisaotsile keeping things tight, BDF found it difficult to score though thy managed on a number of occasions to break the opponents' defence. Despite winning the match, GU were not completely convincing especially in defence where Gobonyeone Selefa and Gaopatwe Seosenyeng often found them on the wrong footing, but would only be saved from embarrassment by the poor reaction of the opposing strikers.

Perhaps to confirm their problems BDF XI were reduced to 10 men in the 87th minute after a vicious challenge on Kgololo Leteane who had to be rushed to hospital a few minutes after he replaced injured Selefa following the challenge.
