Mogorosi completes Celtic move

National team winger, Joel Mogorosi has completed his move to South African Premiership side Bloemfontein Celtic, while his Mochudi Centre Chiefs teammate, Arnold Chaka, is also on the club's radar. Mogorosi penned a three-year deal worth P3 million with Siwelele, while Chaka was also at the club earlier this week. Indications are that the Zimbabwe Warriors defence stalwart may pen a deal with the club. But it is Mogorosi who has been at the centre of transfer speculations in recent weeks after signing a contract with Zimbabwean side FC Platinum in March.

FC Platinum, who signed the player from Chiefs for a fee of P400, 000, earlier insisted they were not keen on doing business but rather were expecting their new signing to arrive next week. Interest from South African clubs started flooding in after his impressive performance when Zebras hosted Bafana Bafana in a World Cup qualifier last month. Kaizer Chiefs, Platinum Stars and Celtic all made inquiries about the former Township Rollers player, who was expected to join his new FC Platinum teammates next week. But the two clubs - Chiefs and FC Platinum - ended up agreeing to split the proceeds from his sale after the player showed signs of backtracking on the deal following the exit of Rahman Gumbo from FC Platinum.

According to a Chiefs source, 'we ended up agreeing that we (Chiefs) sell the player and give them P1 million. I think the most important thing is that the boy goes where he thinks he would be most happy , it would have been difficult for him in Zimbabwe after FC Platinum fired Rahman (Gumbo).'This development means FC Platinum will pocket P1 million from the player's sale. Celtic coach, Clinton Larsen is excited about his new acquisition and believes the Botswana international will add value to his squad.

'Joel is a quality player and he will certainly add value to our team. We are in the process of assembling a strong squad for the coming season and he is one of the players who we had targeted,' Larsen told Mmegi Sport.Mogorosi attended a medical examination on Tuesday and is expected to join his new teammates for pre-season training soon. Larsen said they have already begun preparations for the new season.FC Platinum secretary, Philimon Muwengwa, confirmed the agreement between his club and Chiefs, but referred all questions to the club's chairman, Tadson Zhou.Meanwhile, Chaka's agent, Omega Sibanda, said the Zimbabwe international was at Celtic, but said negotiations are still in progress: 'I'm yet to get feedback from them, I should know by end of the day,' Sibanda said.
