Nyumasi shines on his maiden voyage

 

The 27-year old arrived at the club during the last transfer window from Zambian Premier League outfit ZANACO FC amid much fanfare. The Zambian club had signed the player from Zimbabwean division one team Douglas Warriors in 2008.'Aboutrika' as the player is affectionately called, signed a two-year deal with ECCO after the team's sacked Zambian mentor Chris Tembo lured him to the Francistown-based side from the Zambian giants.

Despite missing only five games in the just ended season, the player has been a vital player for ECCO since his arrival and is credited for steering the club to victory with his neat displays on the pitch on numerous occasions this year. Consequentially, the player capped his magnificent debut season in the country by scoring 11 goals during ECCO's impressive league campaign.

The player's scintillating moves on the ball in the just ended season even set tongues wagging with many speculating that the well-built 27 year old may leave the club for greener pastures, especially for the likes of money-spinning clubs like Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Township Rollers in the Southern part of the country.The combination of Nyamusi, former Under national 20 left winger, Lovemore Murwirwa and striker Patrick Lenyeletse has produced sparks during cup competitions, with the Zimbabwean creating almost all opportunities for the duo. Nyumasi also netted an impressive three goals in the Coke Cup. Mochudi Centre Chiefs, however, eliminated the club, in the Coke Cup three weeks ago.

ECCO, nevertheless had their revenge in the MASCOM TOP 8 when they eliminated Chiefs a fortnight ago to set up another titillating clash with Rollers. Nyamusi was in the thick of things in that game and is likely to be pivotal in the yet to be played final of the prestigious Cup which, this time, will be against Rollers.The Zimbabwean scored in the preliminary stages of the MASCOM TOP 8 when Mamojadiski played and eliminated BMC via a 4-2 win aggregate.

Nyumasi told Mmegi Sport, 'I have had a fantastic season because of my hard work and commitment. The club setup is a most conducive environment for one to perform well in. My aim is to continue working hard to maintain my good form.' Quizzed on whether he will leave one of the fastest growing sides in Botswana if a tempting offer came his way Nyumasi responded: 'At the moment I am concentrating on my agreement with ECCO. If it happens that I leave, it will be with the blessing of the Club. But as an ambitious footballer, my main priority is to play abroad. The South African league will do for me.'

The well-built attacker added that his main desire is to help the club clinch the prestigious Mascom Top 8 Cup in his maiden season. He also maintained that he wants to help the club clinch the League title next season.ECCO Public Relations Officer, Keletso Gomotsang, said of Nyumasi's impressive exploits for the club this season: 'The player has shown that he is a quality player.

He is also a hard worker. He was a cut above the rest this season and made the team click when chips were down.He is what the club has always needed.'When quizzed if the club will let him leave if a lucrative offer came his way, Gomotsang said: 'We always do our best to keep the players because we are an ambitious club. However, if offers come their way we do not prevent them from leaving.'
