But he said whether the duo were acting in their capacities as Student Representative Council (SCR) officials, the law would take its course if they are found guilty of any offence.

The UBSRC president, Khumoekae Richard and justice minister, Kago Mokotedi were arrested - allegedly for malicious damage to property and inciting violence among the student community. They were detained but attorney Duma Boko managed to negotiate their freedom only for the Criminal Investigation Department official in charge to change his mind shortly after Boko left, Richard told Mmegi yesterday.

The student leaders are currently serving an indefinite suspension announced on Tuesday, and await disciplinary hearing on a date to be decided by the UB management.

They were arrested and detained after the student community demonstrated against the stoppage of supplementary examinations last year and issues affecting the new School of Medicine.
