Opposition campaigners invade Mokoboxane

Although the date of the by-election has not yet been set, the BNF has a massive rally slated for this weekend at the Boteti village.

Botswana Movement for Democarcy (BMD) spokesman Winfred Rasina said his party is sending a delegation comprising of him, the party chairman Nehemiah Modubule, secretary general Wynter Mmolotsi and other executive committee members together with about 30 members to assist the BNF clinch the council seat in Boteti.

Meanwhile, Botswana Congress Party (BCP) publicity secretary Taolo Lucas said his party is sending a delegation and some members to the weekend rally.

BNF spokesman Moeti Mohwasa said his party will launch its council candidate for Mokoboxane by-election in Mokoboxane on Saturday at two in the afternoon.

He said the candidate, Obonye Lobang, will be launched by party president, Duma Boko who will be accompanied by members of the BNF central committee.

'The launch will be preceeded by a motorcade which will start in Kedia village at 08:00 hrs.

The motorcade will go through Kedia and then around Mokoboxane. The rally will be held at Fountain Freedom Square where the candidate will be launched,' he said.

Efforts to reach the Botswana Democratic Party to find out what preparations they have for the by-elections proved futile at press time as the party executive secretary was said to be in a meeting.
