The Molepolole-born striker has scored three goals for the Gabane side since the start of the current Mascom Premier League campaign and if this early success is anything to go by, then he is on his way to great things. He does not rule out that possibility of donning a Zebras jersey before the end of the season.
'Things are working well for me at Santos, I enjoy my game and I do not see any reason why I should not end up amongst the top goal scorers at the end of the season,' he said confidently. There is no doubt that Rankgomo has huge potential to turn into a real star and national asset. This is his second season in the top flight. In his first season, at Comets he managed to score eight league goals and hit the target thrice at the play-offs to save Comets from relegation and scored one goal in the Coca-Cola cup.
Early last season, he vowed to fight hard to ensure that Comets would not relegate. But a few days later there were reports that he lacked discipline and he was relegated to the bench. To this day he still argues that 'those reports were baseless'.
'That was then, the accusations were baseless. Let it not be the issue now because I am now focused and committed to Santos. I encourage sober habits,' he said.
'I get advice from different people including my coach on how to handle this early success and I can assure you I will not disappoint. I want to take my career to another stage and I realize that the only way is to focus 100 percent on my game,' he said.
Rankgomo is confident of scoring more goals now that he is being used as a target man unlike at Comets where he operated as midfielder most of the time.
'At Comets I played too deep most of the time and that limited my chances of scoring goals but at Santos I spend most time inside the box. Playing with certain players gives you confidence and Santos has quite a number of gifted players who make my job easier.
Those accurate passes from Patrick Mathaba and decent crosses from Innocent Ranku make life a lot easier for any striker. If you miss you have only yourself to blame. Like the one I missed when we played BDF XI, Ranku had laterally fed me but I missed,' he said.
Ringo has not only scored goals but has created a few for teammates as well. 'If the focus is on me then I have to be clever and create openings for my teammates,' he said.
