BNOC hosts Zeus workshop

The workshop has attracted participants from different Olympic committees across the world who are being drilled on online data preservation.

The course kicked off on Tuesday at the Gaborone Sun. Kgosietsile said the workshop could not have come at a better time as it is taking place just a few weeks before the London 2012 Olympics online accreditation deadline.

'Therefore, our delegates will be doing their respective countries' accreditation with the tutorials still fresh in their minds,' he said. He said that hosting the workshop does not only allow Botswana to enter more delegates, but as one of the first countries to uptake the programme, she has over the past few years gained invaluable experience.

'I have no doubt that the participants perceive Zeus in the same light as us, and consequently they will use this opportunity to learn as much as they can for the benefit of the countries they represent,' he added.

Course facilitator, Richard de Groen said the programme helps in managing data online. He added that they are trying to create a network of knowledge sharing where Commonwealth and Olympic countries speak the same language as far as sport is concerned.
