Meet the juicy face of Colour in the Desert

 

The youthful model, who is determined to put Botswana on the map recently had a chat with Showbiz on her flourishing modelling career.'I am one of the few professional models Botswana has ever produced,' the confident model said in an interview.

The model who is originally from Serowe, says her passion for modelling started during her childhood. She asserts that in 2006, she went to try her luck at M-Net Nokia Face of Africa Search and when she emerged the second best out of 1,000 wannabes, she made a decision to be a model.  So far, she has participated in more than 10 high profile fashion shows in Botswana including Colour in the Desert Fashion Week, Gaborone Fashion Week, Redds Fashion Show, Botswana Fashion Week and Orange Expo Search for New York. The gorgeous model has also participated in the famed Africa Fashion International Fashion Week held in Johannesburg and the Swahili Fashion Week in Tanzania.

'I am inspired by Andiswa Manxiwa who is South Africa's former top model. She has walked the New York ramps, so as an African model, I find it easy to relate to her,' she said.The model who aspires to reach the loftiest of places in the modelling world says that perhaps it is the way her single mother raised her and her siblings that made her the determined and grounded person that she is today.  Quizzed on how she felt about being chosen the face of Colour in the Desert she says, 'First of all, I am so honoured to hold the title. It was around this time last year when I participated in Colour in the Desert Fashion Week and that's when my raw talent was discovered by international agents, so the show was my pedestal to international success. I see it fit to be the voice of every young, aspiring model in Botswana and Africa at large as the show comprises of Pan African countries.'

Juice further says that she felt it was her duty to ensure that both local and international models, fashion designers, stylist and fashion bloggers collaborate to bring out the best of fashion business into the country. She strongly believes that Colour in the Desert gives Batswana the opportunity to, 'come and invest and milk ideas from different cultures from all over Africa.'

The model hopes that the show will also give her the platform to be able to showcase her talent overseas one day soon. Juice, who is currently based in South Africa where she is signed under K-Mile Internal Agency, says it has not been an easy journey for her to have a breakthrough.

'It was because of my hard work and determination that I got signed by the agency, which is one of South Africa's biggest agencies. The agency also offers acting lesson, which I am taking so I am also learning Zulu, Xhosa, Afrikaans part time as this will help me get into acting in the country,' she says adding that since South Africa is the hub of fashion in Africa, it suits her lifestyle and career choices.  To keep her lanky body in good shape, the model who has a degree in Tourism Management and a diploma in Culinary Arts plays for Mafolofolo Volleyball Club.
