Leo announced the special invitation to the local civic leaders during the ongoing full council meeting held in Molepolole on Monday. He said that the event would be celebrated in Molepolole at the heritage site called Ntsweng that is also famed as Kwa ga Mmakgosi. The festivities will start from 0900 hours till 1700 hours when the evening event called Setapa will be starting. He said that the Dithubaruba festival is aimed at promoting the diverse cultural practices in Kweneng District.

'Apart from the local traditional groups who will be performing at the event, the Bafokeng from Phokeng in South Africa are also expected to grace the event,' he added. The entrance fee will be P50 and everyone is expected to wear traditional attire. The event is expected to be awash with traditional foods, games and entertainment.

Dithubaruba was a capital of the Kwena people in 1853 to 1863 before they moved to Molepolole. It is a hill top settlement that has well preserved stone ruins that make it easier to climb up the hill more especially on the northern side and it is nearer to the Molepolole main Kgotla. Dithubaruba (in Dithejwane hill) used to be the battleground during Bangwaketse and Bakololo skirmishes long ago.
